Fully Paid Tuition & Fees
The For Utah Scholarship program ensures four years of tuition and fees are covered by grant and scholarship assistance for Utah residents who are eligible for the Pell Grant.
Who Qualifies?
Qualified applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Utah resident
- First-time freshmen
- High school GPA of 3.2 or above
- Annual completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and confirmed Pell Grant eligibility
Step 1: Apply
Prospective students must first submit your University of Utah application and any supporting documents by the December 1 deadline.
Students hoping to receive the For Utah scholarship must complete the Net Price Calculator and submit their information to the university by clicking “Share with Utah”.
Step 2: Complete FAFSA
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the March 1 priority deadline.
Step 3: Admission
Wait to be admitted and receive your letter of acceptance.
Step 4: Notice of Eligibility
The U will contact you regarding potential eligibility for the scholarship.
Step 5: Confirm Enrollment
Complete enrollment at the University of Utah.
Step 6: Attend the U
Attend classes and begin your education.
First time freshmen interested in attending the U should apply here. To be considered for this scholarship, please apply for admissions by Dec. 1, complete the university’s Net Price Calculator by clicking “Save Estimate”, and submit the FAFSA by the March 1 priority deadline.

For continued eligibility, you will need to be enrolled full time for all eight semesters, maintain at least a 3.0 GPA at the U, and have continued Pell grant eligibility.
The funding will come from existing unrestricted scholarship money and ongoing efforts to raise donor support for student scholarships.
The For Utah Scholarship covers tuition and mandatory fees (last dollar award after all other gift aid considered), but will not cover books or housing.
This new scholarship increases access to higher education for Utah students and ensures that they not only enroll, but graduate. The U is committed to helping students complete their degrees and reducing barriers to college such as tuition costs.
