The University of Utah is committed to giving all of our students the best experiential learning experience. Whether transferring from a community college or another four-year university, the U is the place for you!

Check Admission Standards
Applicants are expected to have a transferable GPA of 2.6 or higher with 30 completed semester hours, or 2.35 or higher with a completed Associates of Arts or Associates of Science degree. Transferable GPA does not include remedial courses, credit received from non-regionally accredited institutions, and credit awarded by exam (AP, IB, CLEP, FLATS, etc.).
If you have completed fewer than 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours deemed transferable by the University of Utah, you will also be required to submit an official final high school transcript. ACT/SAT test scores are optional for admission, however, graduates from non-accredited US high schools, home school students, and students who receive a GED are required to submit official ACT and/or SAT scores.
The University of Utah uses a holistic review process when assessing applications to ensure we give all students the best opportunity to present a complete picture of their qualifications. Identifying applicants who are well prepared for academic success is one of the keys to providing our students with an extraordinary undergraduate experience.
Academic factors that are taken into consideration include: cumulative transferable GPA, rigor of course selection, grade trend, and academic awards. Non-academic factors include: involvement in student organizations, athletics, or other extracurricular activities; significant commitment to community engagement and volunteer work; familial and financial responsibilities; work experience; extraordinary circumstances; and ability to contribute to and benefit from a culturally and intellectually diverse learning community.
Check Application Deadlines
All applications are evaluated in the order in which they are received, and notification of admissions decisions are sent on a rolling basis. Applications submitted after these deadlines will be considered on a space-available basis. Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible; complete applications received by February 1 will have priority consideration for transfer merit scholarships.
Complete the Online Application
Be sure to fill out the application completely, as it will be used to determine the admissibility, residency for tuition purposes, and eligibility for merit scholarships. Once an application has been started, you will be able to save and continue at any time until submitted. Once submitted, changes will no longer be possible.
Pay the Application Fee
The application fee for undergraduate domestic students is $55. This fee is non-refundable.
The application fee can be paid online within the application, by phone, by mailed check or money order, or in person at the Student Services Building. The application must be submitted 24 hours before the application fee can be paid in person or by phone.
The application fee may be waived for applicants who provide documentation of financial hardship. More information on how to qualify can be found here.
