ADMISSION PROCESS

  • Check Admission Standards

Applicants are expected to have a transferable GPA of 2.6 or higher with 30 completed semester hours, or 2.35 or higher with a completed Associates of Arts or Associates of Science degree. Transferable GPA does not include remedial courses, credit received from non-regionally accredited institutions, and credit awarded by exam (AP, IB, CLEP, FLATS, etc.). If you have completed fewer than 30 transferable semester hours or 45 transferable quarter hours, you will also be required to submit an official high school transcript and official ACT or SAT test scores.

The University of Utah uses a holistic review process when assessing applications to ensure we give all students the best opportunity to present a complete picture of their qualifications. Identifying applicants who are well prepared for academic success is one of the keys to providing our students with an extraordinary undergraduate experience.

Academic factors that are taken into consideration include: cumulative transferable GPA, rigor of course selection, grade trend, and academic awards. Non-academic factors include: involvement in student organizations, athletics, or other extracurricular activities; significant commitment to community engagement and volunteer work; familial and financial responsibilities; work experience; extraordinary circumstances; and ability to contribute to and benefit from a culturally and intellectually diverse learning community.
