Concurrent Enrollment Scholarship
What is this scholarship?
The Concurrent Enrollment Scholarship provides scholarship assistance toward tuition and fee costs for Utah residents who have a 3.2 unweighted GPA (on a 4 point scale) at the time of application and graduate high school with at least 9 hours of transferrable concurrent enrollment or High School University Program credits with letter grades of B- or better.
It awards $3,000 per year (fall and spring semesters) toward tuition and mandatory fees, renewable for up to 8 semesters with full time enrollment and at least a 3.0 ongoing university GPA — plus a campus employment option.
Who Qualifies?
Qualified applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Utah resident;
- submit your University of Utah application and any supporting documents by the December 1 deadline;
- submit Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 1;
- demonstrate financial need, as determined by FAFSA;
- a 3.2 unweighted GPA (on a 4.0 scale) from high school at the time of application;
- earn at least 9 hours of transferrable concurrent enrollment or High School University Program credits with letter grades of B- or better;
- have no other grant or scholarship assistance from federal, state, or university merit sources.
Step 1: Apply for Admission
Submit your University of Utah application and any supporting documents by the December 1 deadline.
Step 2: Submit your FAFSA
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible, but no later than February 1.
Step 3: Admission
Wait to be admitted and receive your letter of acceptance.
Step 4: Confirm Enrollment
Pay your deposit and complete the next steps to confirm your enrollment.
Step 5: Notice of Eligibility
The U will contact you regarding potential eligibility for the scholarship in Summer 2025.
Step 6: Attend the U
Attend classes and begin your education.
Is the Concurrent Enrollment Scholarship for You?
The scholarship is for Utah residents, first-time, first-year students who graduate from a high school with at least 9 transferrable college credits with a grade of B- or better.
The Concurrent Enrollment Scholarship recognizes the hard work students have done on college-level courses during their high school careers. It serves to encourage these well-prepared students to pursue their higher education goals at the state’s education leader.
These scholarship funds can be applied to tuition and mandatory fees for up to 8 semesters.
