Last updated March 25, 2021

Office of admissions update:

Due to new COVID-19 guidelines issued by the State of Utah, the following changes will be in effect with the Office of Admissions until further notice.

  • In-person campus tours are currently offered, but with safety measures put into place. For more information, please click here.
  • The Operations Area, located in the Student Services Building, will remain open to the public with limited staffing for receipt of physical admission related documents.

The Welcome Center in the Gardner Commons building is open to foot traffic weekdays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with limited staffing available. Future students are encouraged to connect with their admissions counselor, who can be found at https://admissions.utah.edu/meet-your-counselors/.

We will continue to monitor the situation and any new updates will be posted here.

New Admissions criteria:

The University of Utah is Test Optional for freshman applications for Fall 2021 admission. ACT/SAT scores are not required for admission, merit scholarships (including department scholarships), or direct admission programs (including Engineering). Freshman applications to the University of Utah for Fall 2021 will be evaluated using a holistic review process that takes into consideration factors such as a student’s high school GPA, course rigor, etc. To find out more click here.

Virtual events:

If you are unable to come to campus for an in-person tour, we are offering virtual campus tours and other premium online events for you to know more about the U. For more information on virtual events, click here.
