When did you start working for the Office of Admissions:

August 2018

Why did you decide to work at the U:

I fell in love with the U while looking for grad school programs. I was super impressed with all the academic and support resources available to students, and of course, the scenery. I knew this is exactly where I wanted to be!

Favorite U memory

Walking out of the Education building during my first visit and seeing the mountains all around me. Super cool.

Most memorable college class:

My senior capstone class for my English degree looked at novels written only in the years my class had been in college. It was a great opportunity to reflect on what had been going on in the world over the last four years, to think critically about current events, and to read some great contemporary writers like Ta-Nehisi Coates and Jesmyn Ward, who will probably be putting out bestsellers for years to come.

Best part of your job's location

Gardner Commons is just a few steps away from the food trucks that park outside of the library every day

Favorite Salt Lake restaurant

Blue Plate Diner for comfort food, and Sumorrito for ramen.

Best part of your job:

Helping make students’ college transition as simple and stress-free as I can.

Tips for college:

Get a planner system, whether it’s digital, paper, or a mix of both. Seriously. I got lazy about this my senior year and walked into class one day to find everyone getting ready to take an exam that I had NO idea about. Don’t be like me! Also, always have a snack handy.

What do you do in your free-time:

Reading books, writing, and exploring new hiking trails and coffee shops in the valley.
