Welcome Message from Executive Director Rakin Hall
Dear Educators, Leaders, and Mentors,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new Executive Director of Admission at the University of Utah. I am a lifelong educator committed to principles of excellence, diversity, and equity. As a new member of the University of Utah family, I would like to highlight many of the wonderful aspects that make being a Ute unique.
Over 11,500 admission packets have been sent to admitted students for the Summer and Fall 2018 for students who met the December 1 priority date. We are excited to see them all on campus!
We encourage students who are still in the application process to submit their completed application by February 1 to be notified of their admission decision by March 1.
Visit http://admissions.utah.edu/admitted/ to see other important dates and the next steps for admitted students.
Admitted University of Utah students can apply for some campus scholarships not automatically included in the admissions process through the AcademicWorks application system. Students will log into the system with their university id (UNID) and password, which can be found in the admissions letter.
Scholarship applications will continually be added throughout the spring semester. It is recommended that students check AcademicWorks frequently for new opportunities. Not all departments are on the AcademicWorks system at this time. Visit bit.ly/ucampusresources for a list of campus scholarship resources.
We are excited to bring you Utah Higher Ed Days during the 2017-2018 school year! These visits, formerly known as Post High School Tours, are a chance for your students to connect with different colleges and universities across the state, learn about application deadlines, learn more about the majors that interest them, and more. Click here for the full University of Utah Office of Admissions UHED schedule. Contact your assigned Admissions Counselor for questions regarding UHED.
Admitted students are now able to confirm their intent to enroll and accept or deny any currently offered scholarships at the same time. Admitted domestic undergraduate students for Fall 2018 must confirm their intent to enroll and pay the $300 enrollment deposit by May 1, 2018. The enrollment deposit will be applied towards their first semester's tuition. Both items must be done before students can register for New Student Orientation or enroll in classes.
Newly accepted freshman undergraduate students who wish to defer their start date to a later semester may apply for an admission deferment. Requests to defer an offer of admission will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may be granted for reasons including illness, military service, and humanitarian or religious service.
ACCESS provides aspiring women a supportive path into the sciences by offering a scholarship award and learning experience that fosters academic success throughout their undergraduate education. Visit https://science.utah.edu/students/access.php for program and application information.
The Larry H. and Gail Miller Enrichment Scholarship application for 2018-2019 is now available on AcademicWorks. Eligible students are those with demonstrable financial need. Whenever possible, students will be chosen from applicants whose ethnic background is under-represented in higher education in Utah and those who are first generation college students.
Red White & U is a special event for admitted students that offers the opportunity to live the life of a Utah student for the day. This interactive program allows students and their parents to customize their campus experience and choose among a variety of sessions to connect with academic colleges and learn more about student success resources and student life at the University of Utah. Students will be receiving invitations with event registration details by mail in the upcoming weeks.
